The Wicks Group Acquires Torstar's Delta Education
New York City, NY, August 8, 2001: The Wicks Group of Companies, L.L.C. announced today that it has acquired Delta Education, an educational publishing and distribution company, headquartered in Nashua, NH, from Torstar Corporation.
Delta Education is a leading developer and supplier of K-12 science and math education materials. Founded in 1974 on the belief that "children learn best by doing," Delta is most known among educators for its hands-on, supplemental manipulatives and curriculum products for elementary school children.
Gary Facente has joined Delta as its President and CEO. Mr. Facente arrives with over 30 years of executive and operating experience in educational publishing, including prior positions as CEO of Tribune Company's largest educational publisher, and President of World Book Encyclopedia.
In announcing the acquisition, Craig Klosk, a Managing Director of the Wicks Group, said: "Demographic trends affecting the K-12 educational publishing industry are extremely favorable, driven by increases in the school-age segment of the population, and we are truly excited to have Delta Education as our flagship company in this high growth sector."
