Dan Black joined the Wicks Group in June 2003. As a Managing Partner at Wicks, he is involved in all of its investment and management activities and serves on the Board of Directors of all of its operating companies.
Prior to joining Wicks, Mr. Black was Managing Director & Co-head of Merchant Banking at BNY Capital Markets, Inc. (a subsidiary of The Bank of New York) responsible for investing the firm's capital in private equity partnerships, the overall management and strategy of the merchant bank, and relationship management with private equity firms. He was also responsible for originating mergers & acquisitions, mezzanine investments, and leveraged finance transactions.
Mr. Black was on the investment committee of BNY Partners Funds, a fund-of-funds partnership for high net worth individuals to invest in private equity.
Mr. Black was previously Senior Vice President and Co-head of U.S. Corporate Banking, Senior Vice President and Manager of the Los Angeles Corporate Banking Office, and a member of the corporate credit committee. Mr. Black is a director of the Advent Claymore Group of closed end mutual funds.
