Wicks Educational Publishing is the parent of the EMC/Paradigm and JIST Publishing brands.
Founded in 1954, EMC/Paradigm is an independent publisher of print and electronic educational materials for the high school and post secondary school markets. Subjects include world languages, literature and language arts in its high school division, and business education, computer science, and allied health in its post secondary division.
JIST, an acronym for Job Information, Seeking and Training, was founded in 1981 to assist students, teachers, career counselors and adults with topics including job searches, career exploration, occupational information, life skills and character building. JIST's products include assessment materials, workbooks and textbooks, career reference books, videos/DVDs/software, and websites.
Stephen VanThournout, Chief Executive Officer
Stephen VanThournout is President and CEO of EMC and oversees its daily operations. With more than 22 years in executive, operating, and sales positions in educational publishing, Mr. Vanthournout brings a wealth of experience to the Company. Most recently, he worked at McGraw-Hill Education, the largest educational publisher in the United States, in various executive positions including Publisher of McGraw-Hill Learning Group, President and Publisher of the Wright Group, and President of McGraw-Hill Contemporary. Prior to joining McGraw-Hill, Mr. Vanthournout held positions in publishing at the Tribune Company and Contemporary Books and in sales at Steck Vaughn Company and Random House School Division. |
