Sundance Publishing, L.P. ("Sundance") is a leading publisher of PreK-3 reading instructional materials, and a publisher and distributor of K-12 literature-based reading skills and language arts learning materials.
Sundance began over 30 years ago as a school-market distributor of quality paperback books, and was among the first to provide teacher and student materials for using literature in the classroom for instruction in reading and other curricula. Today Sundance has grown to become a leading publisher and distributor of hundreds of programs that include outstanding books, and literature-based video, audio and CD-ROM products.
Distinguished by its strong commitment to innovative reading instruction, Sundance serves more than 175,000 teachers throughout the United States and internationally. Some of the Company's best known programs include Little Red Readers (guided emergent reading), Supa-Doopers (early chapter books), LEAP (enrichment activities for grades 4-6), LIFT (critical thinking activities for middle schools) and Novel Ideas (reading skills for high schools). Other products include: SoundStarts (phonics), and The Book Project - the first reading program to fully integrate real literature and skills.
The Company was purchased in June 1993 and sold in June 1998.
